Technology in the Curriculum Project Summary Anne McLaughlin High School My goal for the five-day intensive curriculum development training program was to have the time and the expert help to develop a website for Greenville High School. I teach an Advanced Word Processing class and this class will be responsible for the maintenance and development of additional pages. At the end of the last school year I sent a note to all GHS teachers and administrators stating that I would develop a web site over the summer months. I asked them for input at this time and did receive some feedback. I developed initial pages during this five-day course for my students to work on as a starting point for our high school web site. I left several pages in the under- construction stage for this group of students to complete when school starts. I took pictures of the school and students and had them developed to disk and included these in my pages. A few of the pages I included in our web site I developed during the EnterNet class taught last year through the ROE. Those pages detailed our FBLA chapter and included a survey form. Another goal I had set was to develop projects for my students in this course to complete on an independent basis. The course is designed as a one semester course for seniors. The students will work from a text--WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows. They will be assigned additional tasks other than those listed in the text. An additional software package I plan to incorporate is Microsoft Publisher. I developed a couple of mini-lessons using this package. One lesson requires students to complete a letterhead, business card, application form, and a tri-fold flyer about a company of their choice. They would be allowed to use templates for these jobs. Another lesson requires the students to complete two cover jobs--one a tape cassette (from a template) and a CD cover (developed on their own).
